What is this medication and its most common uses?
Fluox (Fluoxetine / Lovan) 20 mg is an oral drug that is used primarily for treating depression. It is in a class of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors SSRIs (Selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors) and is from the same drug (fluoxetine) as Prozac. It works by restoring the balance of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain, which helps to improve mood. Fluoxetine is used to treat major depressive disorder, bulimia nervosa (an eating disorder) obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
What are the possible side effects of this medication?
The side-effects of Lovan include drowsiness, stomach upset, diarrhoea, dry mouth, dizziness, trouble sleeping and unusual dreams, sweating and changes in vision, although most of these should diminish over time. There is also the possibility of ulcer-like symptoms in some sensitive individuals. A lowered sex drive is also a common side effect of this, as with most

How should I take this medication?
Take
Lovan exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Do not change your dose or stop taking Lovan without first talking to your healthcare provider. Take Lovan once a day, either in the morning or in the evening as directed. Take it with or without food. The usual adult dose of Lovan is between 20mg and 60mg per day.
What should I avoid while taking this medication?
Do not drive, operate heavy machinery, or engage in other dangerous activities until you know how Lovan affects you. Do not drink alcohol while you are taking Lovan.
What are the possible food and drug interactions associated with this medication?
If Lovan is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. Lovan may interact with numerous
medications. Therefore, it is very important that you tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking.
What should I do if I miss a dose of this medication?
If you miss a dose of Lovan, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once.
